Student of the Week
Each week, one student will be randomly selected to be our student of the week. Throughout that week, they will be the line leader and have other classroom jobs that they will be responsible for.
As you may know, at Parkside, we like to showcase great character. Each month is dedicated to a different character word, such as Self Discipline, Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Fairness, Caring, Responsibility, Perseverance, and Acceptance. We also have WOW words, which change weekly.
On Fridays, it will be our student of the week showcase day. When your child is chosen to be student of the week, I would like them to create some type of art to show what our WOW word of the week means to them. They can make a picture, write a story or poem, make up a song, create some type of art (painting, play-do sculpture, etc.), bring in a storybook, take a picture of themselves displaying good character, or any other way they choose. They will be given the WOW word on Monday so they can have all week to think about what they want to bring in on Friday. I would really appreciate your help and support with this. I think it will be a great way to get the kids thinking and displaying good character, while also getting to express themselves using their own talents.
Be looking for a sticker on top of your child’s homework sheet stating that they will be our next Student of the Week and what our WOW word is that week. Thank you!
