Classroom management
Behavior Plan
ICCM (I Can Control Myself) is our classroom discipline plan. A verbal warning will be given when a disruption occurs or a classroom/school rule has been broken. When behavior extends at an inappropriate level, the student will lose 5 minutes of recess time. If the behavior continues, the student will lose 15 minutes of recess. If the student continually disrupts the classroom, the consequence is a referral to the office that will result in a behavior detention or suspension, depending on the severity of the behavior. A note will be sent home for your signature followed by a phone call to inform you of the situation. I will be keeping in contact with you regarding your child’s behavior by notes home, phone calls, and /or emails so we can keep discipline issues to a minimum in our classroom.
Positive Behavior Rewards
Students will be rewarded for displaying positive behavior on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. They will receive stickers, coupons, Brag Tags, tickets, M&Ms, free homework passes, positive notes home, Parkside Pride awards, and treasures from the Treasure Box. As a class they can earn a popcorn party by consistently showing good behavior and earning popcorn pieces. They can also earn a class reward by filling up our Kindness Coins bucket. For this reward, the class will vote on how they would like to spend their coins.
